MK II and the music it produced The mk II is redonkulous. Im absolutely in love. I was just wondering what songs are famous for having that mk II fuzz.

Zep 1 The original MkII is all over Zeppelin 1. In most cases that's not a Les Paul and Marshall stack, it's a Tele through a MkII probably into a small Supro combo. Sounds big, that's what a MkII does.

It's more transparently obvious on the Yardbirds recordings with Jimmy Page, the Little Games album in particular.
Greg Lake used one for his fuzz bass tones in King Crimson. Check out the bass on 21st Century Schioid Man.

mk II I knew it was all over zep, and there are a few songs you can definately here it on . What threw me off was the les paul and marshal thing. I never knew he played with a tele through a supro. Yeah it does sound huge.

Me too. I would rather listen to the early live stuff than the records. I don't like the sound they have on record and I find bob's vocals and little trying at times.

Hey Captain,
Have you seen the Royal Albert Hall performance from disc one of the 2 disc DVD set they released a couple of years ago? It is absolutely stunning, the whole band is completely ON FIRE!! Lots of close interaction between Jonsey, Page & Bonzo and Plant is totally on point, which is pretty rare! If you haven't seen it, I highly advise you pick it up! I've watched that thing more than I've listened to all of the albums over the past 20 years! Says alot considering they're my all-time favorite band (along with Soundgarden). 8)
These are all I could find on You Tube from it. Here's a taste: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-OJRk8yEfHU & http://youtube.com/watch?v=QO2fxtYV1mQ

BBC sessions The BBC Sessions are worth listening to. The first CD is from John Peel's Top Gear show in '69, the second disc is from '71.

Ok folks, is Mr Page using a fuzz pedal, if so, is it the MKII or MKIII(used for french tv)? It sounds like it is ON all the time.
I had a big long debate about this with a rather pain in the ass pedal maker...
He claims Page only used the MKIII for that tv show, but that the albert hall is a modded MKII.
As a side note, he claims to have sussed the mod and uses this as a bit of a sales pitch.

They certainly are!! As well, the How The West Was One 3 disc set is another great listen. I've also got quite a few good quality bootlegs from the first 2 tours that smoke! As much as I love all of the albums, they were truly a live band & that's where they excelled.

To the best of my knowledge, Page used a fuzz pedal consistently up to Zep III, and after that sparingly on various tracks. He relied on his amps from there on out, as higher gain stages were coming into development.
Now, I've read about him having an MKII modded to get a sound more to his liking. As far as the French TV performance, I just watched it to make sure, and it does look like a MKIII, sounds like it as well. The pedal housing appears to have more squared off corners, not rounded like the MKIIs, which could also make it an earlier Supa Fuzz as well.
At any rate, only Page knows for sure! ...If he can still remember...
