Mk11 Problem? Hey guys, I just plugged my MK11 in for a bit o fun with my new orange AD30 and I have found that its sounding very wooly and sustained notes seem to fart out somewhat  . I tried putting in a new battery but it still does the same, can they be affected by the cold as it has turned chilly round these parts. Your advice would be appreciated. :D
I forgot to mention the level does not seem to boost the volume as much as I remember, I am hoping it is just me being paranoid

Chilly seems to be fine for fuzzes, it's the heat that kill's 'em.
I'd give Dave a shout.

Have you tried the pedal through a different amp? Checked your cables?
Someone has said either here or somewhere else that their orange amp did not like pedals.

I was thinking to pull the old fender twin out and see what happens.
The Orange and the Red rooster get along better then fine
:D

Yup, my MKII sounded like shit through a 1969 laney amp. Some amps and some pedals just don't go!

Hey S~W,
Sounds like the amp to me. Do you have access to another or a friends amp to double check??
The MKII is REALLY picky about the amount of gain or drive it see on an amp. Basically the cleaner the better. Even a tad too much gain will cause the circuit to mush up, over compress and you'll be left with a very crappy sounding fuzz tone.
The volume boosting capabilities of the pedal are also affected by the gain on the amp which again leads me to believe the amp could be screwing with the circuit.

I have an Orange AD30 as well and that is a really picky amp when it comes to pedals. As you already know it doesn't have shit for clean headroom so it is not really fuzz friendly. I would suggest an older rat or treble boosters for the orange and not much else. I used to have a klon that really made that amp come alive when I had it cranked.

Yeah, thanks mates, I played the AD30 yesterday with my good old reliable Rat it sounded fine. I was kind of disappointed with the orange, in my mind when I bought it I was doing searing fuzz leads with my MK11, turned the world onto garage bands with my album topping the charts world wide and all the chicks my tongue handle. I call it a minor set back : ) :D Red Rooster sounds great with it as well.
Any one using Mk11’s with JTM45’s or the like, how do they go with the Marshall OD :?:
Graham- 05-03-2008
A Tonebender mk2 or otherwise added to a JTM45 (I use various Park versions) is a match made in heaven! Vary speaker choice to taste....

Yeah i'm thinking of springing for a ceriatone 18watt clone in a head type thang. BUT the RI 59 jazzmasters have been announced for July. Hmm what to do?

I use my fuzz with an all octal preamp amplifier and it sounds just dandy. I tend to go for amps with max clean headroom anyway though and get my distortion from the pedal.
