modding super fuzz type octave pedal? I'm wondering if someone knows a way (a simple way, for a newbie tinkerer) to modify a super fuzz type pedal to disengage the octave thing?
I have a Mica Fuzz Wau Wau, but I never really use the wah, cause it drops in volume and also is very hissy. (maybe there's a way I can fix that, but that's a whole other ball of wax).
I really love the fat fuzz tone the best. The mid-scooped one is OK, but a little thin and seems with slightly less volume. Anyways that fatter fuzz setting sounds great on the low single notes, but when doing a chord it does that slightly ring-modulator type-thing, & it sounds out of key. I don't really dig that sound.
Is there a simple way to modify this pedal (or any of these octave type pedals) so that the fuzz is still there, but not the octave/ring m. sound??
I figure, it's gotta be possible, similar to the way Foxx Tone Machines have that switch that engages/disengages the octave thing, but you can still have fuzz...

I'm going to start with a disclaimer: This mod has NOT been -*test*-('")ed. If you do this mod, it is at your own risk.
That being said, it's an easy enough mod, and easily reversible.
Most Superfuzz circuits are similar with regards to the octave section, so I just used a standard SF schematic. Anyway, here's what I would try....

Cool.
I figured it was reversible and anyway this pedal isn't the most valuable or treasured thing. I'll have a look and see if things look similar enough for me to discern.
Thanks

You could easily make it switchable if you like it.
