Mosrite FUZZ rite HELP
Hi all! I am trying to find out what year(s) the case had "by SEMIE MOSLEY" and the trademark symbol under the M. I have not seen another. Anyone else own one like this? Here is a picture to help.

Post a pic of the guts, it'll make it easier to tell.

Here is a couple more pics. One of the guts and one of the knobs. It is definitely an oddball! The knobs are the same knobs used on an Award. I had heard they did this when supplies got low. Any light anyone can shed is appreciated!

The pots should have a date code on the housing. If you are able to find the date code it will give you a good idea of what year your pedal is. Another thing I noticed with your Fuzzrite is the board wrapping. My fuzzrite has the circuit borad wrapped in tape. From the photos it looks like yours is using something other than tape. Without the date code my guess is yours is a late 60's to early 70's.

Pot date codes are from 1973. I didn't think they were making these in '73 anymore so I assumed the had beed changed - although solder joints look original. I just figured it was someone really good! The material covering the board appears to be some kind of light tan/orange insulation which has become brittle with age. As I have mentioned I have seen a few but never like this. Soundwise it is the classic FUZZ rite with all the grit and dirt you would expect. I had another back in the 80's and traded it because this one sounded better. Thanks to all for the help so far!

nice fuzzrite

Your pedal appears to be all original so I would say the 1973 pots are stock and that you do indeed have a very rare early 70's version. The epoxy covered circuit board also points in that direction. Cool Fuzzrite. How does it sound?

Cool Fuzzrite. How does it sound? It sounds really incredible. I had another I found in 1978 with what appeared to be masking tape around the board and no TM or by Semie Moseley on the face. It also had the M knobs. I found this one in a music store somewhere around 1981 and grabbed it. When I compared the two there was a huge difference. The first one sounded thin – like the sound was coming out of a speaker from a 63 Chevy II. This one was full and had some real meat to it. It also afforded a lot more in harmonics. I ended up trading the first one to a friend.

Nice! :D Never seen one like that before. Looks as though the board is made out of plasticine  So this would be a silicon circuit being from the 70's an all??

You could try E-mailing Tim at www.tymguitars.com.au He's a very cool and knowledgable guy when it comes to Mossie's.
