My next quest for something cool AKA Tremolo Pedal Advice
Are there any effects that are sort of like a slow tremolo in that it sounds like someone is moving the slider slowly up and down? I was listening to the version of the Willie The Pimp solo that is on PD's music player and the effect would be pretty cool on some solos. Just wondering if anything like that existed. Kind of like a fade in /fade out solo. 8)

I realize I could use the volume control, but that might prove difficult without Jeff Beck powers.

...something along these lines? http://filters.muziq.be/model/dunlop/tvp1 I used one of these when I played with Dave Cloud's Gospel of Power in Nashville about 10 years ago...it worked out well with his type of music.

I just realized, what I was talking about. After thinking of the logistics of the pedal PD mentioned, I realized what I need is a volume pedal. I guess all are about the same, so no use in differentiating between makers I suppose.

Some volume pedals suck tone apparently. Goodrich are supposed to be the dogs danglies.

God I love England and the way they speak. I think there's a term for it, but you say something that rhymes with what you mean in context. Like for instance, "We're in Barney...Barney Ruble...Trouble." Or by saying dogs danglies, you mean the mutts nuts, which means something similar to the bees knees and the like. Anyway, I just thinks that's cool.

Goodrich are supposed to be the dogs danglies. I've got one of those; its a nice pedal! :D Hey Bob, what you might want to look into is a tremolo pedal that has a CV/Expression input that serves as a modulation source for tremolo Speed. Far as I can deduce, that's what you're after. If you had Reaktor I'd give you an effect I built that does this and more: You'd need a PC/mac to use it though. And a good third party soundcard. And an installation of Reaktor. A pricey analog pedal would actually be a way cheaper alternative and one you could take anywhere.

I was thinking the same thing, I've got one of those Cusack trems that has so many wave options it borders on useless! When I stop messing with it I usually settle on a triangle or square wave but you can have combonations and mixes of the two which is interesting especially when you put it before a fuzz or overdrive. Another great example of this effect is the Them version of It's All Over Now Baby Blue where the tram hides the initial attack but occasionally the playing gets a lillte off and you catch it. Very haunting sound though and worth investigating for a nice not overused effect.

My Catalinbread Semaphore can be ran square wave or saw tooth, fast or slow and can go from full volume off to full volume up at VERY slow speeds if you want it to. It can simulate a borad fader going up and down very easily. I would run it slow, saw tooth, with full depth and and set the shape knob and speed knob to taste.

Hey Tommy, I'm digging that Semaphore. Are you able to get the small box version?

Tommy1966- 07-16-2008

Hey Tommy, I'm digging that Semaphore. Are you able to get the small box version? Hi Cado, I am sold out of the standard small box Semaphores right now. They are on order and are about 2-4 weeks out. The American Series (big box) is good in stock. I have the smal box on my pedal board and sometimes I wish I had the big box model. It is easy to accidently move a knob with your foot on the small box if your not being careful. I have got used to mine now and dont do the knob move anymore, but when I first got it I did. The big box version has the knobs far enough away that you dont have to worry about hitting a knob with your foot unless you have shoes like Bozo the Clown or something....

Thanks Tommy, I'll have to wait until the fall to buy one, they confused me by calling the large box version "American." I wanted to make sure you can get one. Size 10 shoe, I should be OK.

All Catalinbread pedals are hand built in Oregon by Nicholas and his one employee. I think the reason he calls the big box pedals the American Series is because he likes big American built muscle cars.
