Original '66 Professional MKII wOC81D's in a Supa Fuzz case! Hello All-
New to this board...
I have in my possession a REAL Marshall Supa Fuzz with an original Tonebender Professional MKII board in it with what look like OC-81d transistors. If someone will tell me how to upload pictures, I would like to get some opinions on it. I sent pics to David Main, because on his history page he says he never saw a Supa Fuzz stock with OC81ds, well, I sent him a picture and he said, "well, I'll be damned..." or something like that...pots have '2 66' on them. Thanks much!

Oh my!! That is one lovely looking pedal - its made me come over all faint  - totally beyond lovely!!
I have a couple of the later Marshall super fuzzes but never found one of these in the early body casting let alone with 81's - what a fantastic thing..................
How does it sound??
Could you put up a few more pictures please??

here are mine with their friend:
Notice the way the script lettering is reversed in comparison to your earlier cased version - I also saw your version of the lettering on one of the later bodied models.

It sounds AMAZING!! The best pedal I own, by a longshot, and I own a few...through my Vampower MKIII 100watt it is GOD!! More 'meat' (bass, low mids) than the OC75 version, which I was lucky enough to check out, but IMO much nicer. I wonder how many with the OC81Ds were made?? Seems like they must have experimented a bit...(?) I do have a Solasound MarkIV that comes close, it is more 'gain-y'/louder, like a germaniium Power Boost/Overdriver or Ver.1 Big Muff, but the MarkIV is very close in tone (Imagine that!)
What picture angles do you want and of what?
Thanks!

Sola Sound City!
real beauty, there!
....your board looks exactly like my SS-made Vox MKII Pro. (Captain has one also) which is June '66 I believe...my guess is yours is around that same time, too. Does it have the old-school battery connectors?
theemadcap1- 06-15-2008
Supa fuzz circuit w/ OC81D transistors... It has a thin cardboard looking strip with 9-volt terminals on one side and solder on the other. I hooked a new 9-volt battery clip to the old one. I looked once 3 years ago, when I got it. and the pot I could read had '2 - 66' on above the terminals on it.

Nice Supa you have there!
I have seen one or two variations to the standard OC75 supa's, including one with an OC81 driving two unknown matched transistors, but never with all OC81d's.
Are the cans in your Supa labelled Mullard OC81d?

Supa fuzz circuit w/ OC81D transistors... Hello-
The markings seem to have been rubbed off the transistors as the big cap in the middle of the board. On the middle transistor, I believe, you can make out an 'M'. Besides that they have no markings. I asked Dave Main if he thought they might be metal 'Long can' OC71s, but he said that was unlikely. He said he had to be careful with the Mullard OC81Ds he had because one could easily rub the lettering off, which I assume happened here. I have an MKII with OC81Ds that was made for me and it sounds nearly identical to this one, except it doesn't 'clean up' as nice as this one can when rolling the Volume down.
Could Psycho*Daisies post a picture of his SS-made Vox MKII Pro circuit?? It would be cool to see it side by side with this one! I found a picture of a MKII Pro circuit picture which was identical to mine, except it had OC75 and one transistor had been changed and it looks like the WIMA caps were changed.

there's a pic of mine on the DAM site "A Little History" the quote by mine says "Rare As Hen's Teeth" or something like that...

Supa fuzz circuit w/ OC81D transistors... Wow! That's a nice, super clean one!! Looks like the input and output caps are different...they are the brown molded caps vs. gold WIMA caps. Are the values the same? Seems that I have seen blue ones with ".1", while mine has ".05". Wonder what that means? Mine has got a mixture of light tan and dark brown resistors, while yours has all tan resistors. I wonder what Dave's circuit looks like, in comparison? Is it posted anywhere?
Cheers!
