PCB Roosters? I've just seen a guy claiming about his Rooster that "This is from the last batch of handwired D*A*M's, they are all PCB now."
This didn't match what I remembered and a quick look here turned up our Captain's comment:
The few Ram Heads and Deluxes made with PCB's will never be made again. Not that they are bad or anything like that, they are really well made but I do not feel comfortable using PCB's in my pedals. This is also one of the reasons we cannot continue down the dealer route. To fill demand and to make the pedals at a cost effective price for dealers we would have to use PCB's...it ain't gonna happen!
Are the Roosters or any other D*A*Ms PCB-based now? To be honest, it wouldn't stop me buying one (if I didn't already have one) but I'm curious.

I know that the Captain doesn't like using PCB's for any of his pedals, so I doubt that there's going to be a swing towards a PCB based Rooster. AFAIK, the only D*A*M pedals that have used PCB's are the Deluxe & the Ram Head, and that was done purely for speed of production when the pressure was on.
Their continued use of the strip board is pretty much guaranteed:
using high quality hand cut Vero board without the use of any toxic solvents. D*A*M do the very up most to use parts and finishing techniques that are not harmful to animals or to the environment that we all live in.
A sentiment which more pedal builders, and the rest of us for that matter, should take more notice of IMO...

I can confirm my rooster has one of these inside it, nearly took my head off when i opened it up!

No, Never ever made a Rooster with a PCB and never will!!
As Mr Bones states, I only ever used PCB's in the Ram and the Deluxe for a very short period.
To mass produce means the use of PCB's and I don't dig that at all.

I think the Pakistan Cricket Board might get a bit heated if you mention Darrel Hinds (that Aussie Umpire) to them though... ;)

Captain - this might be the wrong forum to ask but is your stance against PCB a purely environmental one?

Yup, I suppose there are ways to make them without a shed load of chemicals and other by-products but on a small scale it means the use of some pretty harsh chemicals that I don't want to be using.
Stripboard has zero by products so is a hands down winner...and personally I think it looks cooler.
It does limit the amount I can pack onto a board but I ain't about to start making analogue delays so I'm not too worried.
