Pigdog mini-amplifiers This may be of no interest at all! I have been building these for quite a while, mainly for friends who seem to like them and come back for more wacky designs.
I just wanted a lil amp that I could plug into and noodle away while sitting in front of the tv, but we have had mini-jams with them!
Quarter watt, all ptp, old 1960's oversize components (when I can squeeze them in!), alnico speaker and I built some with fuzz circuits in too just for fun.
I coat the hamerite ones in a slightly tinted nitro to give an aged look, like the ol' benders.
The internal speakers sound better than you might imagine, through an external cab they are evil little bitches.
Hope you like!

Thankyou so much for your kind words. I was suprised at the response and all the pm's!
I enjoy building these little amps but they are difficult to build and very time consuming.
A simple one speaker Pigdog with no fuzz built in (they have a gain control) takes me about 12 hours. Dirty 88's with two 8 ohm speakers, like the custom gold 'Buck' amp above etc etc take longer. (One complicated Pigdog with upward and forward firing speakers took me nearly 2 months  )
I thought I might stick some on ebay, but my friends and friends of friends scoop them all up before I get a chance.
I build the Pigdogs for fun when I'm not playing guitar or working, not to make a profit or anything.
If the Captain is cool with this (he would need to say he's cool with it!), I can put a selection of Pigdog's up here for sale now and then.
Output of these is sloooooow man, cos it takes time to make a good Pigdog! 8)
Unfortunately I don't have pics of all the ones I have made. Some are pretty wacky with multiple (6 or even 8!) Alnico speakers firing in different directions and fuzz circuits etc. I'll try to get some more pics soon.
I did build one or two once without any strip board, just joining the components together so the circuit looked like a wire frame. Quite cool but drove me mad!
Using nitro finishes, some have aged boxes with crazed laquer and wear.
Some have a Fendery sound, others more Marshall.
I liked the idea of those mini-amps you see in the shops made by the larger manufacturers, but they always sounded very dissapointing to me.
I wanted something that sounded cool to noodle away on, Pigdogs are a world away from the plastic ones sold by the larger manufacturers.
All the Pigdogs I have made have gone to friends except the two Dirty 8's in the pics above. But I have more on the go.
The Dirty 8 seems to be the one everyone wants, cleans up nicely with guitar volume and has a nice fuzz style break up when cranked (!) fits in your pocket and looks cool on the coffee table.
I wonder if Philip or Dave would mind recording some clips and doing a brief review if I sent it up to them?
Anyway, won't rattle on. Thanks again for your interest and I'll put more info up as and when.
Peace

P.S. Graham, how could anyone forget about you man!

Wow, that is a great idea! A little amp with fuzz in it....too fucking cool! I really like the looks too. Seems like a VERY handy tool to have around the house. I seem to be one of many who would be interested in scoring one.
Great work!
