Power problems with Vox Tone Bender
Hi Dave, yesterday I connected the Tone bender in chain with other effects and I try to connect all the boxes to a main power supply (1700mA-9volts). Two problems: if I connect other effects in chain with the TB, those don't work, I can only hear a pulse. If I connect the TB to a battery and all the others to the power supply I haven't any problem. Second question: if I connect my TS808 before the TB, the TB works with more gain and volume, even if the TS808 is off. If I connect the TB in the first position after the guitar, there isn't any problem. Why? Thank you David

Hey David, Man, you should use the Vox with batteries if you can! It will sound better. If it has a regular DC tap it most likely be positive ground so cancellation will occur with your other negative grounded pedals on your board (TS808) etc. The 808 has buffered bypass so even when off your clean signal runs though the buffer and will act as a load on the Vox and alter the tone. Vintage Fuzzes and modern day counter parts really need to be in the signal chain before any buffered pedals such as the Ibanez, Ideally first or after a true bypass wah pedal. ~Dave

Thank you, Dave. I'll use the TB with a battery or a dedicated AC adaptor. I haven't any problem on putting the TB in the first position or in the second after the wah pedal. The chain will have: Guitar (Casino or Strat) - Cry baby - TB - TS808 - Big Muff - Small Stone - Vox AC 15
