Ram into a dirty amp?
I'm maybe the only guy in the world of stoner rock that doesn't care all that much for the Muff (at least on guitar...I typically really like it on bass). One of the things I really don't like about them (and their variant clones) is that they rarely work with a dirty amp....the scooped mids and big round lows usually just turn to undefined mud. Is the Ram any better than a typical muff (I own a green russian and the NYC reissue) into a dirty, cranked amp?

"tone" is fairly subjective i guess, but to my ears the ram handles a dirty amp well. just for fun i cranked the gain to full on my orange 120 (volume full too) and increased the boost on my catalinbread stout boost too. i then threw the ram over the top of it all and the sound was awesome. i had the ram gain at about half way. it was just a SUPER saturated wall of fuzz, yet there was still enough definition to sound cool. the lows weren't too overwhelming. generally, i like the ram into my amp set to about 2/3 dirt with the stout boost also set around 2/3. it's sort of like AC/DC with a shit load of low end. the fuzz pushes the whole thing into heavy fuzz territory, and gets that fat, fat dirgy tone i love. louderthangod - knowing your set up i think you'd dig the ram. it's just too much fun!!!

This is what keeps me from trying one too... I've been GASsing for years now, but I play single-channel amps, with a volumepedal to back off to cleans. For the rest, it's all out galore on an Orange Retro50 CS & an '78 Marshall JMP. Would a RAM work on it too, & do I need the 3-knob version to make it work?

The RAM will sound sweet with either of those amps. All rams are three nkob pedals, are you thinking of the MEathead maybe?

Indeed, sorry... Thanks for the info & sorry about the O/T but any chance of telling me how they act on a dirty amp? Thanks!

They get even angrier with a dirty amp. Really heavy tones.
