Red Rooster 'pop'
Hi Guys, My RR seems to have quite an audible 'pop' when I turn it on, is this supposed to happen? I gigged it for the first time last night and when I switched it on before a song, at volume, .it was like, ’single coil hummmmmmmmm, engage ‘POP’ ’single coil hummmmmmmmm. Guys? Apart from that I love it to bits!! :D

I have had that problem with pedals before and usually just stomp it a few times after I power it up and it won't pop anymore. I did have a reverb pedal once that popped no matter what and I ended up selling it.

I asked Dave about the 'pop' when I bought a red rooster awhile back, he said it's to do with the led. He also said that he'd prefer not to have one, but then people would probably ask for an led if the RR didn't come with one... ... somfink like that. I don't like led's and would really like a Red Rooster without one. :D

I asked Dave about the 'pop' when I bought a red rooster awhile back, he said it's to do with the led. That makes sense to me. It just really stood out to me when the start of a song with silence, hit the pedal and the POP really leapt out at me. 1st gig for a new band and I think I was feeling a little self conscious that night! Thanks for the info guys, helps heaps. :D

Dave explained the "pop" to me when I got mine too. Apparently, it only happens when you run the Rooster from a battery, if you use a PSU, you don't get the "pop". Anyway, I'd rather have a Rooster WITH an LED than without... Been playing about with mine recently as well. I originally had it after the Titan (someone mentioned they got some good results from it), but it didn't really seem to do much. I put the Rooster before the Titan, put the Range control in the middle and then let the Titan give it a good kick up the jacksie before the signal hits the amp, and bang, superb solo boost! :)

just stomp it a few times after I power it up and it won't pop anymore. Yep, this is what i do. Apparently it's best to do this a few times while your amp is on standby and it will reduce the 'pop'. I run my RR off a PSU and get a 'pop' if i don't do this, never tried running off a battery to see if it's better/worse.

Used it again last night at a gig where the volume was ALOT lower than my other band plays at( quiet blues/country band) no 'pop' problems at all.
