royal mail question - shipping to the USA
Do packages shipped via royal mail (such as a D*A*M pedal :D ) arrive with the regular USPS mail, or are they delivered separately? thanks.

Mine always came usps, but you have to sign for them.

And they take fecking forever. Don't forget that part! Average delivery time from the Captain is about two weeks!

Last time I sent a pedal to the US, it took a week from door to door. I think it's via USPS when it gets over there.

Thanks for the info guys.

Last time I sent a pedal to the US, it took a week from door to door. I just sent a pedal to the US and it looks like USPS have lost it. It was a rare one too. The buyer is (understandably) pissed off and so am I .. I'm about to refund him his money and start trying to get my money back from the Royal Mail. So I guess what I'm saying is: make sure it's insured! It's probably even worth insuring it for a few more £ to cover the cost of shipping and what Paypal will take off you as well .. in my case, all up about £30 over the cost of the pedal. Bastards.

Always get insurance when using Royal Mail. They lose stuff all the time & never admit it. I don't use Royal Mail for parcels anymore. UPS kick their ass.

Damn there eyes. knock on wood, I've usually been getting mine withing that time, ten days at the most. Perhaps they do something really illogical (I know, how could they?) like fly it in to Los Angeles and then ship back out across the US?

Ah, don't get me started on Royal Mail !! I've received packages that have got from the other side of the world to the U.K. quicker than the journey from a major London sorting depot to me a few miles down the road

I think they beam parcels into space & re-materialise them at their depots. All lost parcels are actually floating, slowly towards the Horse Head Nebula.

Hey all, been out awhile and just getting back to the forum for a check in. I have been waiting about 3 weeks now for my Fuzzaround, hopefully it arrives today as I am headed back to Switzerland Tuesday, ugh.

Royal Mail truely defies logic.... I'm in California and I got mine today too! At this point I think it probably comes by ICBM which explodes over the US and disperses it's payload outwards from the center of the continent?

CRAZED PEDAL TAX RANT 25% tax on fuzz pedals!!
I am pissed off about posting too!! For you guys in the US thinking about time issues check out the hidden PAIN that a law abiding fuzzer has to put up with when stuff comes in the opposite direction.... I just ordered a couple of nice noisy things off of Mr Wylie via Jeff at Tonefrenzy - Total cost $500 - postage $46.10 --- so a total cost of $546.10 - no problems on that - well packed and very prompt arrival but here is the sting in the tail: Value assesed at £280.86 (on $546.10 a shitty exchange rate of 1.944 which is NOT what it was when I paid) VAT (value added tax rated at 17.5%) £49.15 Import Duty (2.6%) £7.38 Clearance charge £8 Total additional charges: £64.53 (at their rate $125.45) Now if that was on the pedals alone ($500) it would be as much as 25.1% But because we also have to pay these bloody taxes on POSTAGE! - it brings it down to a much more reasonable 22.9% Don't misunderstand me - I knew that the value was being shown - Jeff doesn't do the "writing down the value" game - in my heart I don't blame him and I knew that the taxes would be around that as it's certainly not the first time I've had stuff from across the water - had I gone to the trouble of getting Jeff to send them as 2 seperate packages I could have saved some money because you are supposed to only pay these taxes on values above a set figure - it is very hard to pin that down but normally anything under £100 / $200 gets left alone - one of the pedals was an expensive wah fuzz the other a cheaper pedal which probably would have fallen under the threshold - but then theres the business of getting to pay tax on any shipping or insurance charges - it just seems so bloody unfair! Yes - I know that plenty of you guys would happily act as an intermediate (thanks for those that have offered) and I could get stuff shipped on as "for repair" or whatever else paperwork wise that would get me under the tax limit but believe it or not I do try to keep honest - but probably not from here on - this one has really gotten under my skin as you might be able to tell if you bothered reading this junk!! PEDALS COST $500 TAXED AT $125 EQUALS +25% ADD ON POSTAGE AT $46 TOTAL COST OF $500 WORTH OF FUZZ $671 :!: I realise that an American resident buying from Europe gets a rough deal on the exchange rates but not like 25% out!! what with this kind of thing and petrol at over $10 a gallon - I'll have to stop taking food soon!!! G
