How does the Titan with a power supply compare to a titan with zinc batteries?
Are we talking an actual difference in tone here?

I'll check it out tonight & let you know tomorrow. I don't think I've tried it with a power adapter yet.

TBH, I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference between battery types, but saying that, I always run mine off a 5 way 9v PSU, and that sounds damn fine to these (tinnitus ridden) ears... ;)

There's a difference in tone.... not as much as say a fuzz has with batteries, but enough of a difference that I prefer running mine on batteries. But if caught in a pinch, I would use a PSU without really stressing it.
Basically it gives more breath to the distortion amplitude envelop. Slightly chunkier with more sag on the attacks and therefore thicker in a way.
Definitely worth a try!

I tried it with a fairly cheap 9v power supply & didn't like it. The distortion sounded a bit grainy & there was a lot of ground hum. I think that was mainly due to the power supply being a crap one though.

No big secrets for me - just wack everything on full and then reduce according to taste, if necessary
Same here, pretty much - just plug it in and thrash it. There isn't a bad sound in there.

That's what is so cool about the Captain's creations in that they can be used across the full sonic spectrum with no lame sounds either side of a sweet spot which unfortunately is the case with alot of effects.

+1 on full sonic spectrum.
!! this is a good thread for Sonik Lovers. !!
I been using my Sonik for mild-over-drive lately ... (volume all way up with tone and gain almost all the way down...)
it sound great at lower settings too as well as everything cranked all the way up .

Thanks for the tip. I tend to max everything out - including my credit limit at the moment !! - so I tried the lower settings and it is so sweet !! But never polite

I am trying to keep my credit card debit to the lowest setting too... :D

and you are doing that with your 120W Matamp??
slomatic- 08-07-2008
Oh yes. Those amps only sound good when they're cranked flat out. As J. Mascis said "Louder equals funner"!
