Wacky, simple effects
I'm building a pedal for a friend who will use it with an electric ukelele. He gave me the choice to build what I want, but I want something with easy to find components/little components that sounds crazy. Think wacky like an Uglyface but less elaborate. Any thoughts? Someone mentioned Escobedo's Lofo Mofo but a guy whose ears I trust told me his version didn't sound too cool...

I'd go for Tim Escobedo's PWM (pulse width modulator) - it's a huge crazy synthy roaring pedal with hardly any parts, and a huge sweep range! http://users.adelphia.net/~tpe123/pwm.mp3 schematic on this page - scroll down! http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/fuzz/snippets.html

That is a very cool tip, thanks Simon! Have you tried it with & without the LFO?

That is a very cool tip, thanks Simon! Have you tried it with & without the LFO? Yeah - the lfo bit was too much for me to work out, without it it's more of a wall of noise deal, less dynamics (well, no dynamics at all). I like it a lot.

Wow I gotta try that thing. Sounds like a crazy fuzz phaser. --Brad
