Very Beatley with occasional Beach Boys choruses. Very melodic. It brings to mind bright Summer sixties streets in the same way that much of Sgt. Pepper does but to my mind it's dated even better. You may have heard Time of The Season even if you don't think you have :D . Listen to clips of it at Amazon : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Odessey-Oracle-Stereo-Mono/dp/B000005YZM/sr=1-1/qid=1158011387/ref=sr_1_1/202-4257353-5375018?ie=UTF8&s=music Alternatively, PM is on the way. Cheers, Mike

Odessey & Oracle is classic. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. Here's my list: Slowdive ~ Pygmalion David Bowie ~ Aladdin Sane Portishead ~ Third Mogwai ~ Young Team quadruple vinyl remaster Spiritualized ~ Songs In A&E Clinic ~ Do It! Well that's just weird. I just played "Third" and I'm listening to "Aladdin Sane" right now. At the risk of getting off the point, I saw The Zombies a couple of months ago when the original lineup reformed (minus the sadly deceased Paul Atkinson) for 3 nights to perform the whole of Odessey & Oracle live for the first time. It was a fabuous night and honestly a really moving experience. It was filmed so I hope to see it surface soon. Al Kooper, who championed the LP in the US and effectively kept it alive, introduced them. Great night. Mike

Alice Cooper : Billion Dollar Babies (deluxe version with the live tracks) Bettye Lavette : The Scene Of The Crime Tristan Perich : 1-Bit Music Albert Ayler : Holy Ghost Earthless : Sonic Prayer BDB is a classic and the live versions give a bigger kick to some already great tracks. Bettye Lavette in fine sparse form and finally getting proper recognition in the past few years. 1-Bit Music is such a cool idea - the CD case contains all you need apart from speakers or headphones to listen to it. It’s low-fi, grainy and glitchy and if you think that 8-bit technology is too hi-fi then this will be right up your street !! Holy Ghost is a 9 CD set for the full on Ayler experience and some Earthless rounds it off well :D

How's the Bettye LaVette? I liked "I've Got My Own Hell To Raise" quite a bit, but didn't hear much about the new one. How's the Bettye LaVette? I liked "I've Got My Own Hell To Raise" quite a bit, but didn't hear much about the new one. In my book all Bettye Lavette is cool ! Just don't get me started on why she was ignored for so long and why (in my opinion) some of the acclaimed female soul singers (no names, but just THINK about it !!) are not as soulful as Bettye. The new album also has a blues and gospel feel to add to the soul and country sounds of My Own Hell. If you've heard the Candi Staton album "His Hands" then it's in that direction.

+1 on Odessey & Oracle, the Zombies were much more than just the couple of hits they're remembered by. Listen to Care Of Cell 44... cheerie pop song about waiting for your girlfriend to get out of prison, that's friggin gold there.
